Re: Maidenhead Street

Are the council determined to kill town centre trade? Apart from removing all of those parking spaces in Bull Plain I see the strategy is also going to remove short term parking in Bell Lane and Church St (either side of the Salisbury) These are spaces that I often use if I want to pop into Hertfor...

Re: EHDC District Plan - Vote on adoption 11-Sept

So the Sec of State issued a holding direction late yesterday afternoon meaning the plan could not be adopted. Must say I do agree with EHDC that it was rather late in the day to notify it of the decision. Stephen McPartland has clearly learned how to play the system, having previously managed to g...

Is the car park still open?
Yes. They're only working on Phase 1 at the moment, which the the corner site (marked in purple on the map).

They may not even close the car park as there's no structural work taking place there and it will be needed for the hotel guests.

Re: Bircherley Green

Now that demolition has actually started, can anyone say for certain what is happening about the bus station. I gather that the bus station will be retained but what about the interim period whilst demolition and new building is going on, probably several years. The bus station is probably the leas...

Re: EHDC District Plan - Vote on adoption 11-Sept

jesus wept - solve traffic problem with by-pass; then cause it again by halving capacity (bus lane) The idea is that a bypass would remove traffic from Gascoyne Way and allow the spare capacity to be used for a rapid transit system going east/west across the county. The Local Transport Plan (LPT4) ...

Re: Bluecoats Roundabout

Looking at this link https://roadworks.org/?105454376 it appears (when you zoom in) that they are installing a new light for the Fore St exit, but there are no details on the HCC website. Anyone know details? I think the four locations indicated on the map are for lane closures rather than the spec...

Two Murders in Two Months

I'm not sure I can recall this happening before. Murder in Hertford is thankfully very rare so to have two in two months is concerning. On the plus side, arrests have been quickly made. I would speculate that both were drug related.
