Smokey Mojos...

We went in there last friday. the interior decor is interestingly different and very well done the owner / manager ,Ahmed asked us to bear with them as it was still early days and he was most appreciative of any feedback this was unnecesary as the service was exemplary. and the menu has a real mixture of all sorts of different foods. I had the mixed mezzee starters and the chicken and ribs for main. both excellent. however must add the real star of the place is the most amazing huge glitter and mirror clad traditional oven which produced the most amazing Naan bread,we had to nip a few doors down to the off license to buy our bottle of wine no real hardship and not the fault of the restaurant but of our bizzare archaic licensing laws.so all in all to sum up, inviting and different interier decor. excellent service. very varied menu which makes a welcome change from our usual Hertford chains. microwaved cack. so would reccomend.and advise get in quick got a feeling this place will become very popular very soon and being small, may become. difficult to get in. make sure you go in just to check out the amazing oven and Bread. And no I have no vested interest. just feel credit where its due...

So is it a BYO? Do you pay corkage? I don't have a problem with that, will have to check it out.

Yeah , BYO is a bonus as far as I'm concerned , gives you the largest wine menu in the world . [:D]

Hi All, I ate here last night and I have to say that it was excellent. We went for the mixed hors d'oeuvres (actually we had 2 between 3 as we are fatties) and the Mojo special (it’s a mixed platter but I can’t remember the name) and it was absolutely fab. They were really generous with the portions and the Nan was also really lovely. The menu does blow your mind at first but you do get used to it after a while. Yes they do charge a corkage fee (£2.70 I think), however we negotiated :) It is quite a casual dining experience which is really nice as it suits the style of food (using your fingers). We asked for something different and we have certainly been listened to. They deserve to do well.

we ate here last night and it was excellent. What a refreshing change from all the other bland Hertford restaurants (apart from the wonderful Lussmans ofcourse). Lovely interior, great service, reasonable prices and lovely food. Bring your own is such unique idea for Hertford. I hope they do very well. We brought three bottles of wine and there was no corkage on our bill.

There are a lot of very good places to eat in Hertford. You forgot restaurants like Old Siam which is outstanding.

I liked it. The team are very keen to get feedback hence the 'quiet' launch while they are listening to what customers have to say.. It's cheap while it's BYO, you can't go wrong, I would recommend you give it a try.

We went on Friday... Although most of the place was filled with a large (and noisy) birthday party, they looked after us and we had a great time. I was a bit worried the menu looked like a glorified kebab shop, but the food was way better than I expected and definitely will go back again. My only criticism was that on the lamb front, most of the dishes involved lamb mince (rather than chunks) so I ended up eating minced lamb in a diverse range of shapes.

Not tried this yet (but will) and it is a very diverse menu. I suppose there has to be some relationship between dishes so they can prepare a range of meals from similar ingredients. Almost but not quite, I hope, in the way that non-top-notch Mexican eateries serve the same three ingredients just folded differently to provide a plethora of "choice". Am hoping to persuade Mrs S to treat me to a visit to Smoky Mojo at the weekend [:p]

is this place both evening and lunchtimes? The facebook page seemed to imply just evenings, but they have a lunch menu [?] on the website

Quite a few - Old Siam, Lussmanns is back on form with the new manageress, Ask is transformed with the new menu. Pity Peking House seems to have lost the plot recently.
