Greyhound Pub in Bengeo
Hello,
Does anyone know if the Greyhound pub is still there?

The Greyhound definitely seems to have improved since the new landlord (Tom) took over a few weeks back. The riff-raff have moved on and the place has been considerably tided up. It has gone back to being a friendly cosy local pub rather than a complete dive.
If you've been put off visiting for a while it might be worth giving it another go. They seem to be putting in a bit of effort and the quiz night on Monday is a good excuse to try it out.

Quiz night is on Monday. It's just a fun quiz, but with the chance to win the 'pot'.
Also they do a very good Sunday roast for £9.95. Nothing fancy, but good honest food.
It's difficult to know where a 'recommendation' ends and 'advertising' begins, but I'm not associated with MacMullens or The Greyhound in any way (apart from being a customer!). I just don't want to see someone like the previous incumbent returning, so I'm trying to support Tom as best I can.

The Greyhound has temporarily closed for a few days for the refurbishment. Good news is that it should be reopening Thursday (if they finish on time) and is promising real ale!
Should be nice once it's all been done up.

The Greyhound is now open! Looks good after the refurb and now selling real bear (Wherry and 6X) with a promise of different beers each week.
By the way their telephone number is wrong on the Macs website. The proper number is 01992 304866

Just back from great (free) jazz there.
Next on 2 Decemeber - The Nick Page Quartet. Music from 8:30 or food from about 7, apparently.
