Im sure we have all seen the chaos out on the roads today reguarding getting Petrol any one got a good story they saw or had a long wait. Was told that BP garages tanker drivers are not involved in any industrial action should it occur, So Rush Green could be a touch busy like today.

When will the panic buying in the food shops start, Might have to start a few rumors

I queued on Wednesday at Morrison's in St.Albans for around 15 minutes. I had a quarter tank and at 136.9p it was significantly cheaper than Hertford (I was already in St.A on business).

Shame on those that went out and did all this.

Indeed it is, and I despaired at the people calling into R5L to say it was the "government's fault".

Yes, comments made by people who just read the headline and first paragraph of a news story and then make up the rest to fit with their prejudices. This incident was nothing to do with fuel strikes or panic buying and would have happened regardless.

I've been stuck in two delays today because people have been stuck on the road waiting to get into a petrol station that will be getting more deliveries.
To mis-quote a line from The Sixth Sense, "I see stupid people."

Marilyn, I don't normally go to get petrol unless my warning light comes on - and then I always fill it up to the brim hence why I got caught out this week as I drove past a number of petrol stations with queues outside before really having to fill up. I know of people who just put in a few quids worth when they need it but those usually only do a few miles each week; I believe it differs on the amount of miles you do and your personal economic situation.

I personally fill mine when it gets down to 1/2 that way I don't have to pay for a full tank all in one go and in theory shouldn't run out but as you say everyone is different.

As there is no date for a planned strike a lot of people will need to fill up again by then anyway!

I really hope the petrol stations don't run out. My car in on reserve fuel and has been sitting on the drive for two weeks as I've not had the chance to get out.

The one weekend I need my car to get to a family gathering looks like i'm going to miss out. Really frustrating seeing as there is no strike.

Anyone got any jerry cans for sale?

In the last petrol strike I went to a number of incidents where stored petrol had ignited - its not the spillage of fuel that is a problem its the fumes that leak from the unsuitable containers that are easily ignited. It is also against the law to carry or store petrol above certain limits and petrol stations must enforce this if they see people contravening these regulations - I believe it is a condition of their petroleum licence.

What's the betting the next thing to sell out is bottled water due to the forthcoming hose pipe ban!

What I want to know is how people are managing to fill thier tanks more than usual, do they normally run on empty all the time and only put a litre in when they need it I wonder?

Just hope people don't go mad trying to store in in unsuitable containers at home and there is a major accident.
