Loftcat Leads Openings

Loftcat in Railway Street
Furniture and home accessories outlet Loftcat opened last month in the former Pearces bakery shop in Railway Street.

The independent store offers select items of furniture, including beds, tables and occasional furniture, together with lighting and other accessories.

Other new shops in the town include Lance James jewellers in Market Street, Beauty By Penny in The Wash and a new phone shop in Honey Lane.

Closures over recent months include recently opened Game On in Maidenhead Street, The Natural Clothing Store in Bircherley Green and Yates Ladies Clothing in Fore Street. Also in Fore Street, the tattooists is 'closed for refurbishment'.

Several ourlets and have relocated to Fore Street recently - Marshalls Cycles from Railway Street, Kwik Fit from Ware Road, and Hertford Travel have consolidated their operations, closing their shop in The Wash.

Meanwhile, SA Lingerie in Market Place has applied to the local council for a sex shop licence.

Work on the Marks and Spencer Just Food conversion in Fore Street continues, with an expected opening date in June.

Planning permission for a bar and restaurant at the former Your Move estate agents in Fore Street was granted on the 5th May.
