Bircherley Green Opens Sundays

Following the recent changes in signage, Bircherley Green Shopping Centre is now open on Sundays, with Waitrose and Boots leading the list of stores open 10-4.

Earlier in the year, the shopping centre saw the closure of Methvens Bookstore, with the empty unit being quickly occupied by Scottish retailer M&Co, selling ladies clothing.

However, a couple of units still remain unoccupied - the former travel agents next to Serendipity and The Natural Clothing Store opposite New Look. The Waterfront restaurant also closed recently, leaving another unit empty. This particular eating spot has seen a number of casualties over the years, including The Marquee restaurant, a tapas bar and a French restaurant named "La Ciboulette". Rumours suggest a lease has been signed but there is little information on who has taken on the unit.

Elsewhere is town, a new mobile hair stylist named Issi Hair has opened in Fore Street, opposite The Ram pub. This retail unit was formerly occupied by Yates ladieswear and shoes.

In Maidenhead Street, the short-lived Game On has given way to another ladieswear shop, Wings, whilst in Railway Street ladieswear shop Sheba has finally closed. Further up Railway Street opposite The Lord Haig pub, Jo Kitteridge Flowers has become Jane Maples Floral Design.

Another closure in the town is The Linen Basket in St.Andrew Street.

In Bull Plain, the recently vacated premises next to The Stone House pub has become a nail bar called Violets.

Finally, a planning application has been submitted to turn the former Your Move estate agents in Fore Street into a hotel.
