Tree Hides Speed Camera Warning
Bungling council workers have put up a speed camera warning sign behind a tree in the Ware Road.
The sign is supposed to warn westbound motorists that a speed camera is in operation, but the positioning of the sign means that it is completely obscured by a nearby tree.
The sign has been placed on a lampost just a few metres west of the Stansted Road roundabout. It is a requirement that motorists are warned about speed cameras where they are in operation.
The fact that the sign is obscured could be used by motorists wishing to contest fixed penalty notices, thereby calling into question the effectiveness of the cameras.
The Ware Road cameras were installed in March.
