Town Centre roadworks to cause delays

Two parts of the town centre are to be affected by road closures as gas main work closes South Street whilst resurfacing closes The Wash, Parliament Square and parts of Castle Street between 7pm and 6am.

Work is set to start on Monday 7th January, lasting from two to three weeks, depending on the weather.

Diversions will be in place whilst the work is carried out. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained, although on-street parking will be restricted.

Hertfordshire Highways anticipates a degree of disruption and delay and advises allowing extra time for journeys whilst the work is in progress. Bus journeys will also be affected.
