Castle Hall in Hertford
Hertford's Castle Hall
The focal point of stage entertainment in the town is Castle Hall in The Wash. As well as local drama there is a programme of events, featuring Children's shows, tribute acts, dance and music.

The Corn Exchange

The Corn Exchange in Fore Street hosts live music and comedy. The venue has a dance floor and licenced bar.

Artists such as Fairport Convention, John Otway and Eddie & The Hot Rods have recently played the venue.

There is also regular comedy from The Gag Club.

Cinema

There is no cinema in Hertford but there are four nearby.

Castle Hall occasionally show films, mainly for children but sometimes for adults.

Music

As well as The Corn Exchange, a number of pubs in the town have live music, including The Blackbirds and The Duncombe Arms. There is also occasional live music at The Hertford House Hotel

There is also an annual music festival which runs during April/March each year.

Night Clubs and late pubs

There is no night club Hertford, although many pubs and bars in the town have late licences on Thursday through to Saturday These include The White Hart, The Blackbirds, Baroosh, The Stone House, Sugar Hut and Six Templars. You will often have to queue to get in to some of these towards the weekend. The Snug bar in Railway Street also has a late licence and is also non-smoking.

Drama

There are two Dramatic Societies in Hertford - The Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society, who regularly stage shows at The Castle Hall; and The Company Of Players who have their own small theatre in Balfour Street.

Art

Hertford Art Society puts on an annual show at The Corn Exchange.
There are also regular exhibitions at Courtyard Arts in Port Vale.

Classical Music

All Saints Church run a weekly Wednesday lunch time series called Soundbites. The church is also used regularly for concerts by other organisations such as Hertford Choral Society, Hertfordshire Philharmonia and QC ('Quattro Correnti') Chamber Choir.
