Hertford's local television station will be relaunched during June following a takeover of the station by an Anglo-American partnership.

Einstein TV took over the Local Broadcasting Group (LBG) on 13th May and acquired licences to broadcast to Stevenage, North Herts, Welwyn Garden City and the Lea Valley. The station has been rebranded as Herts TV

The station was initially launched in April 2001 but by the Autumn was in financial difficulties. Home TV finally went into administration on 27th November 2001 with the loss of 13 jobs. A restricted service has been operating since then, with the station managed by the sole remaining employee, station manager Ian Ferguson.

Einstein TV is an Anglo-American partnership that already broadcast a satellite science channel. As well as news and current affairs, the rebranded station will also feature children's programmes, chat shows and local ports programmes.

Analogue TV is due to be phased out early in the next decade.
