Hertford's new local television station, Home TV, launches a full service on Monday 2nd April 2001
Home TV is based on the Windsor Industrial Estate in Ware Road and the initial licence is for four years. The analogue station will be free and requires no new equipment to be received. Planning permission was recently granted for a transmitter located on the Bengeo water tower, which already beams the four main terrestrial stations to homes in the town centre and surrounding areas.
The station is run by Herts TV Ltd, which is owned by the Local Broadcasting Group Ltd. An investment of £1.93m has been made in the two companies by Yattendon Investment Trust plc, owners of The Hertfordshire Mercury. The newspaper publisher's managing director, Gary Matthews, said "Yattendon's investment gives us the opportunity to cement our position as the region's leading vehicle for quality local news and advertising".
