Hertford In BloomPlans are well under way for Hertford in Bloom 2011, the annual gardening competition organised by Hertford Town Council, and local residents and groups are being urged to get digging!.
Judges will beon the look out for displays that make the most of colour, variety and long lasting blooms.
Update 30/7/11- Results
The results of this year's Hertford In Bloom competition were announced this week. Best Kept Allotment: Len Petts, Cromwell Road Allotments Best Commercial Premises: The Saracens, Ware Road Best Kept Front Garden: Pauline and Fred Smith, Leohoe Gardens Best Hanging Basket: Gosselin House, Barley Croft, Bengeo Best Community Project: Courtyard Arts/Vale House, Port Vale For the first time, winners will be presented with their prizes and trophies at a special Hertford in Bloom Exhibition at the Hatfield House Country Show in August. Russell Jeffrey of Riverside Garden Centre is generously sponsoring the competition, with both his time and prizes. Hertford Town Council will once again support the Bloomin' Schools competition which was launched last year. The Town Council will also be running a separate Mini Scarecrow Competition for Hertford's primary schools, with entries being displayed and judged at the Hatfield House Country Show taking place 19th - 21st August.
