Rock At The Castle 2009 Rock at The Castle photo

This year's Rock At The Castle features a line-up of more than twenty terrific acts ranging from acoustic to hard rock, ska, hip hop, reggae and a couple of covers bands thrown in to pump up the party atmosphere!

The event opens at noon and as always, MCs Jim Distortion and Kev Saunders will have radio mics in their hands and intend to do a Bob Geldof and keep shouting out to remind everyone to put hands in pockets and money in buckets.

As has become traditional, Kev will be closing the day with a show by The Hertford Allstars - an ever-changing crew comprising some of the area's hottest and coolest musicians, including all of Crimzen and some of Kev's Clash tribute band, The Trash, playing a rabble-rousing set of rock covers.

Kev Saunders says: "Although we're playing last, we're not actually the headline band. This year that honour goes to Streetsleeper - and the rest of the line-up's really diverse, ranging from hilarious Hertford Hip Hop outfit Ahead Of Time Crew and crazy ska-punk party animals Dregs Of Society to Crimzen's melodic metal, glam-girl band Electralyte's frenetic dance-orientated rock and The Doctors' rock covers."

Full line up for this year's main stage:
Bone Smooties • The Fuses • Albany Down • Psychohero • Crimzen • The Doctors • Palm Tree Club • Distorted Breed • Puck • My Echo • Ahead Of Time Crew • Electralytes • Dregs Of Society • Streetsleeper • The Allstars
7:50pm ends

Acoustic Stage

The Insomnia Music Acoustic Stage will bring together the very best young local talent mixed with more experienced established acts from the London tour circuit. This year's stage sees performances by East Herts Council's Pop Luck competition winner Conor Walker and 15-year-old singer/songwriter Chloe Turner.

A big draw for this year's show will be London based singer songwriter Tom Dibb. Part of Insomnia Music Management's roster of talented singer songwriters Tom Dibb has been working with the Insomnia Music team on his debut album which has been recorded both in London and at Insomnia Music's Hertforshire studio with engineer Tony Platt whose stellar list of credits includes work with Bob Marley and the Rolling Stones! Tom Dibb's no stranger to the annual show: "I played at last year's Rock The Castle and am looking forward to playing some of my new songs to what I'm sure will be an appreciative crowd".

Matt Chambers (Insomnia Music MD) "Insomnia Music's aim has always been to focus on talented individuals and provide our acts a platform to develop and grow. It is a pleasure this year to provide a stage for young artists to experience performing in front of a large audience from all age ranges". The stage also provides a platform for more established local artists such at Rob Clydsedale and Leon Colven (The Bonmarches) to perform their own brand of original material.

Full line up for this year's acoustic stage:
Conor Walker (Pop Luck Winner) • Chloe Turner • Leon Colven (The Bonmarches) • Christina Novelli • Rob Clysedale • Tom Dibb • Dragonflies

Proceeds from this year's event will go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association and is sponsored by Hertford Town Council, Weston Homes Plc and Graphic Nature Studios.
