Hertford Music Festival 2008 opened on 29th April with the Strum City Songwriters Showcase at Castle Hall and Heat 1 of the Battle of the Young Bands at The Hertford Marquee.
The Music Festival calendar is full, with the emphasis once again in variety, with jazz, orchestral, choral and other styles of music including, pop, rock, folk, ethnic and punk all finding a place in this year's programme.
Many of the event will once again take place at Hertford's rock Mecca, the Hertford Marquee in Railway Street.
The month-long festival features performances by The Maccabees, Opus One Big Band, ex-Wonderstuff frontman Miles Hunt and Hertford Symphony Orchestra.
There is also a Musical Mystery Tour, a new bands showcase, lunchtime concerts at All Saints Church and a young soloists competition.
Universal Office Automation are again sponsoring this year's event, with grant aid provided by Hertford Town Council.
Tickets for many events are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Market Place, from venues and other designated outlets.
Hertford Music Festival started in 1992 and takes place during May each year.
