I'm curious to know the source of the light pollution last night. I'm at the top of Welwyn Hill near Fordwich and it was coming from roughly the south/east. It was an amazingly bright white light which illuminated the sky like something I've not seen before. I could also see it along North Rd, Beane Rd and Port Vale by which time it went out at about 21.20.
My only guess as to it's source is the golf course/driving range near Hertford Heath. I was going through Hoe Lane a week or so back and saw several lattice towers that looked like possible floodlighting.

That's remarkable.
I saw the same thing - Tuesday night.
There was a bright fireball in the sky that was stationary for a few seconds, then darted off roughly northwards at a very fast speed.
I didn't want to say anything for fear of being accused of being drunk (which I wasn't)

The O/P clearly isn't referring to a light in the sky, but to a light source on the ground being reflected by low cloud.
