Housing in Mill Road/Mead Lane (former sidings)

Somehow this one has passed me by

https://publicaccess.eastherts.gov.uk/o ... 28LGLFJX00

120 residential units, commercial space etc etc. Where are all the cars going to go? This is a nightmare for access/egress for commercial traffic at the best of times, especially rush hours but I suppose anything is better than what is there now. Is it?

I mentioned last week at the Vision for Hertford Stakeholders Workshop that this was the start point for the Safe walk between Hertford East and Hertford North. The first problem is how to cross the road. Although I do believe Tesco had the answer to this when proposing a new, improved superstore to be accessed by a four lane super highway.

Reason: Added 'former sidings' to subject to clarify location

The site already has planning permission for 107 homes, granted in November 2014. The advertising hoardings went earlier in the month and work will start in a few weeks.

Redrow are submitting a revised planning application that increases the number of homes to 120. The revised plans use the same footprint and >1 parking spaces per home.

Before the existing planning approval, Redrow had a previous application for 130 homes turned down in 2013 due to the lack of parking provision. They now seem to have submitted a third application upping the number of homes again.

There's a [short] earlier discussion on the forum about this development:

It's also discussed on the old forum (yay!):
