Mill Rd is currently closed beyond the Tesco entrance due to a great lump of cedar tree in the road. Emergency services in attendance and the branch is being sawn up.
Sincerely hope nobody was in the way when it came down.

Re: Fallen Tree
Fortunately nothing worse than a bit of customising to a Vectra but the driver can consider him/herself lucky

saw it earlier on my way home - the branch has hit a car on the bonnet - not too much damage but the recovery vehicle was just getting ready to drag the branch off using chains so no holding out too much hope for the car! No injuries and luckily there was nobody walking past.
On the downside expect the tree to be gone in a few weeks after a 'risk assessment' has been carried out - shame as its a beautiful tree.

Yep, the Tree Officer at EHDC suggests it's got to come down and I dare say Tesco's insurers will agree. Seems a overreaction IMHO. It benefits the streetscene greatly. We need more greenery in our towns, not less.

I'm glad to see nobody was hurt.
I've heard that Special Branch are investigating the incident.
