Spooky goings on?

Difficult to explain -we have a power cut but some of the lights are still working at reduced power and my TV is still on. The whole street is out so its not just me. Anybody have any ideas as I can't explain it?

Could be a massive drop in voltage rather than full power outage? Some things might still work, a lot of newer electronics (eg tvs) have a dual voltage transformer so might not even notice. Not an expert here so this is just speculation...

Hi MDJA,

yes that's how UK power networks explained it to me on twitter; I've never experienced it before so wanted to find out the answer. Quite bizarre to be sat watching TV while everything else in the house was off - also annoying as I'd left Friday clear to catch up with a backlog of report writing and the PC was down.

Where are you Golden as we kept having lights dimming but everything else was working? I even had a go at my teenager asking what he was doing but he was adamant it wasn't him. We are up in the far corner of Sele Farm.

Hi Kate, I'm at the other end of town by the fire station but did hear that the problem was quite widespread. It lasted from about 2ish to 4ish.

Ah, ours was in the evening and not on Friday but I forget when. Probably nothing to do with your issue at all!
