Call me mad (and I'm sure someone will) but a a load of used cars for sale looks better than the empty lot did.

They were offering car washes 'from £5' today and have taken down the posts so cars can access the site from the A414 as well as St Andrew Street.

Anyone tried the car wash yet? Our cars could do with a clean and wondered if they are any good.

As Noble cars are based in Bengeo I wonder if the car wash people are the same ones as are located at the Bengeo site?

IMHO, this is completely daft. It's the best car wash around and how anyone can say that the noise generated is more disturbing to local residents than the traffic noise of Gascoyne Way which already exists is beyond me. If there any of the supposed 'local residents' who complained reading this, you should be ashamed of yourselves for denying a few hard-working people the chance of an enterprising opportunity, and local people of an efficient cost-effective service!!!

Miserable, petty nimbys. Amazing that people can nimbys when their b.y. Is a de-sanctified garage?

They can, however, be shut down more straightforwardly by the Environment Agency who (bless 'em) define anything washed off a car (even if you are using only the finest and purest glacial meltwater and no detergent) as effluent which cannot be permitted (commercially) to enter surface drains (along with all the other "stuff" that's washed off buildings and roads by the rain). Yes - this is nonsense also :(

It is, of course, highly likely that the site does have an intercepted drain (as it was a filling station forecourt) but I doubt anyone has had it maintained/pumped out since it was decommissioned.

Yes have used it a couple of times (and have been pleased with the results) and it's defintely a welcome addition. Not sure how it causes more disturbance than the dual carriageway! A retrograde step definitely. :(

maybe the complaints were from other local car washes ,who were losing business :o
