A Sense of Place Exhibition May 24th to 26th

Postby Marilyn » Mon 12 May, 2014 5:44 pm

Following the success of the local history exhibition "Bengeo Stories" at Hertford Museum in 2013, St Leonard's Church is hosting an extended exhibition. It will include items from the original exhibition, on loan from the museum, with extra material collated from extensive research over the last year, with help from many local people

The exhibition will take place in the church on the Bank Holiday weekend Saturday 24th to Monday 26th May.

In addition, a booklet has been produced which will be on sale explaining the origins of the names of all the roads within the current boundary of Bengeo Parish.

There will also be a quiz sheet available for visitors.

Entry is free, and the church is open between 10am and 5.00pm, all three days.

The church will welcome donations from visitors towards the ongoing costs of the upkeep of Hertford’s oldest building.

Looking forward to this. Hoping to find out some information about Eleanor Road and possibly the hayloft in our garden.

We will come and see you. There are three haylofts, one on Elton, Parkhurst and ours (the smallest) in Eleanor. Wondered if we were able to find out what they were used for originally as the 3 are close together and must have served a large house of sorts.

We will be popping by on the 25th as away on holiday before.

A fantastic amount of research has gone into creating a really fascinating exhibition. I went along thinking I would be out of the house for less than an hour, two hours later I was still there.
