I really don't understand why the developer is being so persistent in pursuing this project. It's clearly never going to get approval.

have you never seen grand designs? One thing it teaches - if you persist, you'll eventually get approval.

Although this one does seem pretty unlikely.

What's also interesting is that he never appeals [to the Planning Inspectorate].

He just keeps tinkering at the edges and resubmitting, whilst ignoring the major issue of it being Green Belt land, which he refuses to accept.

Why is Hertford Football Club supporting this deeply flawed plan?

Got to say the list of 'in support' names on the East Herts link smells a bit odd. Why would people in Lowestoft,Southend, Thaxted etc. give a toss about a Hertford planning application and feel sufficiently strongly to post their support? And they are just the ones on the first page. There's support from Potters Bar, Stevenage, Colchester, Chingford, Rotherhithe, Northolt and more further in.

Funny how the vast majority of the people actually local to the development are not so keen.

The Rotherhithe person is actually opposing the application so you can equally argue why someone in Rotherhithe would give a toss.

I can't see anyone from Colchester in support.

The Southend person is the father of one of Hertford Town FCs U25 players. Potters Bar is the grandad of one of our U14 player who comes and watches him play every match. The Northolt are the parents of one of our U14 players. Thaxted is a councillor....don't know why they are supporting. Chingford person is a member of County Hall tennis club and is in support because of the 6 new tennis courts as part of the development. Stevenage Ladies play their FA Women's Premier League games at Hertford Town FC and have found the move to Hertford very beneficial as we have made them fee; part of the family so you can understand why some people in Stevenage are in favour.

It is wrong to say the vast majority of locals are against. If you take out the ones from outside Hertford it looks pretty close between for and against. And from the analysis I have done above which has taken me 20 minutes it looks like the 306 majority in favour against the 243 objections is pretty genuine.

I understand why some people object but you also need to accept why the majority are in favour, i.e. a nice spacious place for people to live in retirement of a completely different nature to the rooms for rent at Bentley House. easing of traffic and parked cars on West St. New walking access to stadium. More car parking to stadium via Mimram Road industrial units. Help to build the club a new club house and acquire a field for 2 more junior pitches. 6 new tennis courts to replace the courts about to be shut down at County Hall.
