A new planning application has been submitted for the old sidings at Hertford East station. Still mostly flats, but fewer homes and more parking.

In its revised form, this is a big improvement on the original particularly with regard to parking spaces. However, since the last application was refused, permission has been granted for the Evron Wharf development on Marshgate Drive. With nearly 200 properties being built there, and with the number of flats on Mill Road, Water Front and Elder Court, it seems that part of town is destined to have a very high population density. More houses, less flats would be nice.

Planning permission for Evron Wharf was originally granted on appeal several years ago (2007). This was renewed after the statutory three-year limits in 2010 and 2013. The developer has just been waiting for an upturn in the market before starting work.
