I've used Event Tyres recently. Not based in Hertford, but a mobile service. They turn up when they say and fit the tyres at your house. No waiting around in tyre and exhaust places, or being told your tracking / brakes / shocks / exhaust need doing. I found them to be competitive price wise too but the convenience is te winner for me.

I use Kwik Fit.

Never had a problem with them in terms of suggesting I need other work done.

Also their on line pricing is as good as anybody else.

Kwik fit are indeed good on price, but they have that reputation about suggesting unnecessary work for a reason. So as long as you know what you're doing with them, and play the game, then you can protect yourself.

N&C Tyres 07860 579512

They are mobile and will come to you. They have always been the cheapest because they have less overheads.

We have used Stapletons (STS) on Ware Road a number of times and have always been pleased with both the service and price.

Used them for 10 years - mainly the Hertford branch but also Welwyn for brakes and MOT. They have never once suggested I needed any additional work over and above what I booked them to do.

I have sometimes looked at using these mobile guys - E tyres, N and C tyres etc. However I have always found that they are not cheaper than Kwik Fit, and are often significantly more expensive, which means the ease of them coming to you is not worth the additional cost.

The argument that they have lower overheads is countered by the fact that they have significantly less purchasing power than the national companies, whose cost prices are much lower which is then passed on to the consumer.
