Any current views on the best Indian restaurant in town?

Its a matter of taste - personally I still favour the Shahenshah but know that others don't like it, Raj is good but small for eating in if a big group, not been to hot house for ages. Not a great fan of Ruby's as I find the sauces a bit too tasteless and runny. The takeaway on Parliament Sq is okay - sorry can't recall the name.

Good point - we haven't had a poll in a while.

We tend to go over to Ware as we like the Ware Tandoori but would like to find a good one in town

Dils is our current favourite. I believe chefs tend to come and go, so our favourite has changed over time.

We did go to Dil's in the end. I had mixed feelings. One of the staff was very friendly and helpful but the rest not so much. Whilst tasty, the Madras and Passanda sauces were more of a puree.

Would agree with the comments so far ref Ginger.

Haven't been to Shahenshah for ages as previously disappointed but things can change. Tikka Cottage was similarly on our "off" list but recently appeared on Just Eat so tried it last weekend and had an excellent tasty (if a little sweet) experience.

If you're a Bengeo resident Raj Villa is porbabky as (in)convenient as Ginger and has some really good dishes and friendly (but sometimes very slow/inattentive) service - allow plenty of time to avoid getting impatient.
