Early hours helicopter

Does anybody know why there was a helicopter circling Hertford at about 1:30 this morning? It must have made a couple of dozen circuits...
Strangely enough I just read this on the Mercury on-line news page. I would not inflict the on-line site on my worst enemy so here is the news story in full.
"Police were called out to Hertford this morning (June 14) following concerns for the welfare of a man.
Assisted by a helicopter, officers carried out a search in the town for the man, who is in his 20s.
He was found safe in Hartham Lane at around 1.55am and was taken to hospital."
