Green Dragon Vaults
This link came up via Google News but nice to see some of Hertford's past get a mention, especially to anyone new to the town. http://carolineld.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/ghost-signs-122-hertfords-green-dragon.html Way back when I was taking photos for the Hidden Hertford tour I missed this one. Only r...

Re: Hertfordshire Mercury job losses?
Sadly again DQ. There was a time when the Mercury was a very local paper. They were major sponsors or at least amongst the rest for any or all local events. They sat on the committee of Fun Day and although they never donated a penny they donated at least half a page every week to the event. Adverts...

I am now a tyke!!
Well, according to this I am; or I've been transported to a parallel universe during my sleep. Anyway back home now with a refreshing mug of Yorkshire tea.

Re: Something new, something old
Well there you go Steve. Another Estate Agent. So many new builds in town i suppose there is a market for another one. Estate Agent that is. People used to complain to me that Hertford was full of estate agents, charity shops and coffee bars (not necessarily in that order). I used to be able to disa...

Something new, something old
On one of my rare strolls around town these days I noticed that the premises once used by Colormax in Mill Bridge is now to be a Coffee Bar. My God, how Hertford has needs one of these. Next door the premises used by Pin Club is to be the new TIC. So, one shop which sold a lot of interesting type st...

Re: Classic Bus Day
Me neither. Terrible lack of publicity about this. I'm not too sure where to lay the blame. Other towns would give their right arm to host this - what do we do? :x This is a good day out. Old buses going to older villages along roads that haven't seen a bus for years. And best of all its FREE...

Re: Town Centre Officer Vacancy
Having read the job description it seems that it a new position. It is as close as can be to the position of a Town Centre Manager. I was actually employed by the Hertford Town Partnership and sometimes self employed and oft times contracted out to the Town Council but never really had a concrete jo...

Re: Beesons Yard
Haven't seen it but might be pointing to Biggles or Capt W E Johns who wrote the books. There is a plaque in Cowbridge ( I forget which shop possibly the old DIY one). Bircherley Green had a aeroplane in some of the designs over the shops and clock; and I think one features in the sculpture close to...

Re: Hertford Is Choking
Thanks Steve. It seems very little has changed then. I do have sympathy with anyone who tries to resolve the problem of traffic around and inside Hertford. I have not been so involved in recent years but the issue of the southern bypass was always being mentioned. I don't think it was ever a definit...

Re: Hertford Is Choking
I would comment on this Steve if I had the first clue what the Mercury were on about. I gave up trying to read their on-line pages as they kept increasing the side ads, the pop ups, pop unders, videos and all the other intrusions of modern media life. In the interests of fairness I gave them a secon...
