Steve - thanks for the reply. The difference is that with "view active topics since last login" it only showed new posts since my last login. Viewing "unread posts" will show me all the topics/posts I haven't read but don't want to. The list will continue to get bigger unless I ...

My problem is that I sometimes click on a link, it opens in a new window, I start reading through it all and then get immersed in the link. When I want to return to the forum, it is so long ago that I have to start a new session and then my 'new posts' search has refreshed and I have lost some item...
