Three cheers for Mark Prisk

Well done to the goat in a straw hat on being re-elected to his safe seat by the populace of Hertford (and surrounding areas). And congratulations on defeating those nasty left-wingers who had the audacity to suggest that those firefighters, police officers, doctors and nurses we've all been calling...

Re: Great Northern timetable getting worse

It's quite ironic that they've tried to fudge the timetable to reduce late arrivals but on the first two days of it I've made two claims!

Bridge House Car Park to Close

http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/car-park-at-hertford-north-railway-station-due-to-close/story-29876713-detail/story.html Closes at the end of December. My guess is that footpath on the east side of North Road between the B1000 and Bramfield Road will become something of a no go zone from Decem...

Re: Hertford North to Stevenage Consultation

"Apart from a few early morning and late evening trains, there will be rail replacement buses on a permanent basis from Stevenage to both Hertford North and Watton-at-Stone until further notice." Surely this isn't a replacement service, it is just a bus service? “We have undertaken a passe...

Re: Hertford North to Stevenage Consultation

They've had the Thameslink Great Northern franchise for two years and are currently suffering with a lack of drivers. They need to sort out the current shortfall AND recruit more for the new services.

Re: Hertford North to Stevenage Consultation

New trains - excellent news
More services - excellent news

But, if they are running more services they will have to recruit many more drivers. They can't cope with the service that they are currently running.

Re: New Trains and Additional Service at Hertford East

Abellio have just presided over a shambolic four years on the Greater Anglia franchise. Their "punishment" is another NINE years of a license to print money (that's money you give them as a taxpayer). They are headed by the man who was in charge of WAGN when it was turned into a shambles. ...

Re: New Trains and Additional Service at Hertford East

So, it seems that it doesn't matter how badly their previous performances were, the people in charge of dishing out the franchises have been mesmerised by the shiny baubles. The man in charge of Abellio Greater Anglia is Dominic Booth. He was the man in charge of WAGN at the turn of the century who ...

Re: Parking on the pavements

The East side of North Road doesn't have any parking restrictions so it is perfectly acceptable to park on that side of the road. However, the inconsiderate drivers should park on the road, not on the pavement.
