Up in Brookside, also not far from the exchange, there is a theoretical 20Mbps BT/Sky/EE etc. service but the best I could ever get on the main PC which was cable connected to the router was 12-13Mbps. The wifi speeds were down at about 5mbps which was hopeless when multiple devices were connected. ...

What speed were you on before? I was on the standard 50mbs service but have been getting around 75mbs for about the last month.

Their spiel has lots of woolly get-out phrases like 'potential for' which makes me think that should it ever happen it won't bear much resemblance to the current plan.

Armed police outside a primary school and not a single paragraph in the local paper? Unless there is some reporting restriction in place I am frankly amazed. This is not a wind up.

Got a leaflet through the door yesterday for this Indian place in what used to be the Harts Horns. The menu looks interesting enough with a few dishes I've not encountered before.

Anyone given it a try yet?

As the Mercury web site seems more preoccupied with a poll for who has the best tattoo, it can be reported here that a man reportedly seen with a firearm (later found to be imitation) in Waltham X was followed by armed police and arrested in Greencoates just befor 6pm yesterday.
