Re: The White Horse, Castle St.

A quick Google finds this... Address The Gibraltar Castle. Lower Luton Road. Batford. Harpenden. Hertfordshire. AL5 5AH. Licensee: Anthony Kavanagh. Tel01582 460005 ... ..but the current one is Tim Ayling. Once bitten? Hope he knows what he's letting himself in for, unless he's doing a 'holding' rol...

Re: Fullers Force Closure of The White Horse

Popped in last night as Stefan is quietly selling off his bottled stock. It's true that Fullers have bankrupted him as they did Nigel and Chris before and caused quite a lot of financial harm to others who were able to escape. Stefan had fought long and hard for a rent reduction. What he got instead...

Re: Rotted horse manure for garden?

Try the place just the other side of Hertford Football Club at the end of West Street. Lots of horses there, best manure going. Think they're running a surplus so would probably be happy to accept a donation to a cause.

Re: GOLDINGS (The William Baker Technical School)

Thanks for putting me straight there Joe. Absolutely lamentable given the effort Dave in particular put into the old Forum. A Ryan Air special, how to go out of your way to really piss your customers off. I picked up on this... "The Techie Stuff The old forum was based on ASP/MS Access and ran ...

Re: GOLDINGS (The William Baker Technical School)

Hi Paul, I'd strongly recommend that you follow the link in the second post by Admin in this section. Here you'll find many articles carefully uploaded by Dave over the years. I've read many of them and certainly recall some that focussed on the lads who chose printing as their future career. This w...

Re: Bircherley Green Redevelopment

This weekend I asked the young till lady if the recent minor refurbishment and the impending arrival of an in store cash machine meant they had decided to stay after all. There was a brief discussion amongst the staff as to what the implication might be and the consensus was that they would be aroun...

Re: The White Horse, Castle St.

I'm sorry to report that Finbar passed away this evening.

He will be sorely missed by those who were fortunate to know him.

The Bridge House

Now proudly displaying "Mick and Sue's Free House" on a board outside, with numerous other "Free House" mentions on their signage.
I expect that Macs would have hung on to the car park if they have disposed of the pub.
Good luck to them. It's a tough market.

The Harts Horns

Appears to have been sold off a reduced asking price of £375k according to Fleurets (was £425k initially). Given it's a Punch pub, if the buyer was aware of their rather straitened condition, could have got it for as low as £300k-£325k. Hope is stays as a pub. Any idea if the recent flooding caused ...
