This constituency of Hertford and Bishops Stortford is one of the safest Tory seats in the country. You won't find this on anyone's top hundred seats to target. I have found myself at odds sometimes with many Tory politicians - all of whom I have known for a long time and really quite like - by suggesting that a blue rosette will guarantee a vote.
I am a Londoner and not by choice I have spent the last couple of months going back and forth. It is not the London of my youth. Hertford on the other hand is almost totally white. It would be found guilty as was the producer of Midsomer Murders who hardly ever apparently cast a non-white in the series. Basically because in some parts of the country still, there are no non-whites, or very few. And even I noticed in The Casual Vacancy and some other awful SKY crime one-off set in the Cotswolds we had to have a token black, Indian, mixed race etc etc.
The idea of a mosque to go back to where this started is just another recycled rumour that I have heard all my time in this town since 1980. As I used to say to my staff in the Bank believe the amount of your Christmas bonus once you have spent it; otherwise believe nothing.

sure, I've looked on Spotted in Hertford and there's plenty of people on there who you wouldn't want in your house, but I object to the smugness that a couple of commenters put on here suggesting they they know better.
and as for out of step with Hertford and it's environs, yes it is. Check the bookies sites out and you'll find the Tories are 100-1 ON to win this seat again. so, if you did a poll of the local populus, you would probably find the vast majority don't want a mosque or similar in the town.
btw, as an atheist, i would object to a new building or conversion of existing for any of the major superstitions including C of E.

As I wrote earlier, there is no planning application. All planning applications are a matter of public record and available for scrutiny online. Similarly, the agendas and minutes of all council meetings are available online. Whoever started to the Spotted discussion and petition made no attempt to provide any background information and recklessly posted as a fact something that was untrue.

If you come across one of them ask them why the town appears to venerate religious zealots who travelled to foreign lands to enforce their narrow view of religion on the local population (that would be the Templars)....

It does not relate to any existing premises or arrangements.If anyone chooses to meet (for religious purposes or not) in a place where meetings already take place and/or that's what the premises are for then why would anyone need planning consent?
