Millenium Carnival Chairman's Message
A sixteen strong committee of local volunteers have worked tirelessly for twelve months to plan Hertford's Millennium Carnival. This will be the town's biggest festival of free entertainment seen for some years.
This year the theme is "Hertford through the ages and into the future". There will be fun things to see and do for everybody throughout the day. Aside from the traditional procession and stalls, Saturday's events include bouncy castles, custard clowns, dancing displays, live bands, funfair and parachutists to mark the dawn of the new millennium.
Three special local charities will benefit from this community celebration. The Lavender Trust, Childrens' Integrated Playschemes (CHIPS) and St. John Ambulance. They are all well known in Hertford and provide essential help to our community.
Sponsorship has played an important part in helping us make this event happen. I would like to give special thanks to the Millennium Festival Awards for All programme who made a substantial donation. Hats off also to the many local businesses who gave their time, effort and financial support.
On behalf of the organising committee, we hope that you enjoy the fun on Saturday 17 June. This is your Millennium Carnival. All you have to do is be there!
